Requirements
Uber Eats delivery requirements in Australia are not the same for everyone. They can depend on your state or territory, the vehicle you want to use, and local regulations.

State or territory
Licence rules can differ between places such as NSW, Victoria, Queensland and other states and territories. What is accepted in one state may not be accepted in another.
Vehicle type
A bicycle, scooter, motorbike or car each has a different document list. Recreational e-scooters are generally not accepted as a delivery vehicle.
Local regulations
Road rules, helmet laws, vehicle registration and work-rights checks still apply. Uber’s available vehicle options can also vary by city.
Common starting points
- Be at least 18 years old, according to Uber’s current Australia guidance.
- Have citizenship, residency or a visa that allows you to work in Australia.
- Have access to an eligible vehicle in a city where delivery signup is available.
- Be prepared for identity checks, a background check and an ABN.
Bicycle / e-bike
Bicycle delivery is often used in dense inner-city areas. A driver licence is not usually required. Official Uber Australia information commonly asks bicycle delivery people for proof of identity, a profile photo, work-eligibility checks, a background check and an ABN.
You are generally required to pass a bicycle safety test and complete other training such as an impairment education module. Uber has also required bicycle and motorbike delivery people to order free safety gear before going online.
If you use an e-bike, it still needs to meet local road rules and any platform vehicle rules. Confirm the current list in the signup flow.
Scooter / motorbike
Scooter and motorbike delivery usually requires a valid Australian driver licence for that vehicle type. Uber’s current public guidance has said delivery people using a motorbike or scooter need a full Australian driver licence.
You should also expect proof of identity, vehicle registration, a profile photo, a background check, work-eligibility checks, an ABN and required training. Free personal protective equipment may need to be ordered and received before you can go online.
Recreational e-scooters are a different category. Uber currently says it does not accept recreational e-scooters as a delivery vehicle.
Car
Car delivery generally requires a suitable driver licence, vehicle registration, proof of identity, a profile photo, a background check, work-eligibility checks, an ABN and training. The licence type that is accepted can depend on your state or territory.
According to Uber’s published Australia guidance, a full unrestricted Australian licence is generally accepted for car deliveries. Provisional P2 licences have been accepted for car deliveries in Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia and Tasmania. Full licences have been required for cars in New South Wales, the ACT and the Northern Territory.
Overseas driver licences have been accepted for car deliveries in some states, usually for people on a temporary visa who meet extra conditions. Permanent residents are generally expected to use an Australian licence. These rules can change, so confirm them with Uber for your situation.
